Cambodian mission June – July 2016,
Our mission started with a five day LTI (Leadership Training Institute) of God’s words in Chamka Somrong, Battambang for 200+ leaders. We continued for another five days there with the medical and dental clinic. With the help of the Phnom Penh based dental mission team, 385 people were able to have their teeth extracted, cleaned, fixed, filled and were provided some new plates. The medical team from Singapore consisted of two MDs and an RN who rendered their service to 670 brothers and sisters that otherwise would never have had the opportunity. As many as 300+ people attended CPR and choking classes. Laminated instructions were distributed and hands-on with mannequins as well as live-person demonstrations made learning even more fun. Simultaneously with all the actions, the church sanctuary also received some sprucing up with new paint, repairs, and scrubbing as well. Next we had the privilege to participate in a church dedication in Kompong Leng village, Kompong Chhnang. We traveled by truck, boat, and then tuk tuk in order to get to this remote village. There we were greeted by many smiling faces of both young and old people. Then the real journey started; our next stop was Ta Boak village, Ratanakiri, about 1000km further. Inhabited by Khmer Loeu or minority highlanders, Ratlanakiri is located in the northeastern tip of Cambodia, which is in the opposite direction from where we came. After two days of intense 10-12 hour drives, we arrived at the city of Banlung. There were only another 63 km to go, so we rested for the night. We were awakened to rain that had been pouring the night before. Our trucks were no match for this muddy road ahead. We had to rent a 4X4 vehicle, so after a few phone calls, a husband and wife team showed up with this so called “4X4 vehicle”. We were surprised to see a small, maybe 1970, Toyota pick-up truck with metal poles and bars, like the kind handymen use in the States. Now there were 11 of us and a truck load of supplies, how were we supposed to fit? To make matters worse, there were three other passengers beside the driver and his wife! It was time to pray, and pray we did. A few of us were cramped in cabin with some supplies while the rest of the team were on the hood/roof and dangling off the poles and bars, literally. It took us about four hours plus, some times we had to get off the truck and walk due to the danger to be on the truck. All our tiredness and murmurs dissipated like vapors; the joy and blessings were awaiting us when we reached the village. We shared Christ’s love through distributing rice, mosquito nets, medicines, school supplies, clothing, toys, candy, sun glasses, reading glasses, first aid kits, and many more… We then returned to Battambang/Northwestern region to continue the work. There was more traveling to do, but we had the opportunity to visit more churches and people. We sang songs, played games and had great fellowship time with them. Many more supplies such as tshirts, skirts, toys, candy, flip-flops, etc., were distributed to the children. We were told that there were 190+ kids at this particular church that we were to visit and we figured we should buffer it a bit, so we prepared our supplies for 240 children. What a gathering! We ended up with 296 kids. God is good! Every child received gifts as planned. Our mission trip would not be completed without showing an animated Bible story movie! We were able to show Treasures in Heaven to the locals. 80+ children enjoyed the movie and everyone received cookie and candy bags before the night was over.
This mission would not be possible without your prayers and financial support and the love of our God! Amen
Thank you from all of us
